Week 63 - From Jousting to Weddings

This week has been quite the week! Monday evening we helped with the FHE activity for the University Branch, only about 6 people came but it was a ton of fun! we made armor out of cardboard for two of the guys to joust in! they had pool noodles to joust with. it was quite the hilarious sight to see. there was a little girl there (the sister of one of the branch members) who dressed up in armor as well. Funny part. when she got all of the armor on (the mass quantities of cardboard) her shorts were not quite long enough to be seen. so it looked like she was not wearing anything under the cardboard. IT WAS FUNNY. so I pulled out my basketball shorts and had her wear them. They were so big for her that to have them fit i put it over the cardboard. (does that make me fat?!) haha.
On Tuesday we were went to one of our investigators house (McKenzie) because we didn't catch her number and so we couldn't get ahold of her. in that time we met her roommate Isabella! who became a new investigator! Not sure how solid she is... especially since she didn't look us once in the eye. but hey we all have our little problems.
On Wednesday we helped the Habitat for Humanity ReStore here in Manhattan, we helped them organize things (everyone has discovered that I am a jedi at organizing things) things without order drives me nuts! same went for the Bishops Storehouse thing that we helped with. When the things were out of order everything went so much slower. but when i got frustrated and put everything in order it went by 10x faster! Weekly planning went super fast as well. especially since we didn't have any time!
Thursdays are our "Campus" time. we have come to not like our campus time... because some people do what we call "pity talk" they talk to us after we start talking to them only because they feel bad that no one else is listening to us. *NOT COOL* would much rather be rejected 10 times then waste time on someone that is not interested in our message. but it went all good after we got in contact with one of our Less Actives and got her number, she even invited us to come over and answer some of her husbands questions after he gets back from military training! Her neighbor was pretty awesome as well we are going to stop by her place again to teach her some more of what we have to say.  That evening we went to a wedding! (haha yeah a missionary going to a wedding) it was a member in our family ward that was getting married. (it was one of the weirdest marriages I have ever seen) there was about 25 people there and they had a small ceremony in the relief society room and then we had a slice of dillons cake. it was pretty great... she was happy that so much support had come for her wedding.
Friday we met with McKenzie again and we talked to her about Questions of the Soul, she was kind of confused but understood more after we started to list off some of the questions of the soul. she had quite a few, and luckily I had scriptures written down for all of them! she even talked about how she was testing the waters with her mom about having met with "Mormon" missionaries. she was sad about the un-positive response she got from her mom. but she said she still wanted to meet with us! After meeting with her we went on campus to meet with a less active branch member, we ran into her last week and got her phone number and had set up a time to meet and get to know her a little better, we brought a sister from the branch with us and later that day we found out that the sister we brought is actually going to be her visiting teacher! cool!
Saturday we went on a team up with my mission grandma! Kirby! who had moved back to Kansas and gotten married (weird!) but yeah. haha. we contacted many referrals and found a new investigator with her named Lagina! That evening we met with our investigators Patricia and Samuel, we had a very long deep discussion with them. Samuel claims that there is no god and Patricia is on board 100% Samuel kept making the lamest points. He went to the point of asking how I would feel if I was Atheist. and I told him that at a point in my life I didn't quite believe that there was a god. and that part of my life was one of the most dark times that I had been in. and that having God in my life was what motivates and keeps me doing what is right and having hope for the future. He couldn't say much after that.  Especially after Sister Herrin picked up their rabbit that none of them can seem to pick up without the rabbit freaking out.
Sunday was a really great and yet super disappointing day. none of our investigators came to church. we had even sent reminders out to them. the lessons in church were quite awesome though. that evening we went and visited all of the people who said they would be at church. and we got a lot of excuses... at least one of them was honest and just said they just didn't want to come to church today. which was also depressing.

But overall this week was a good one, I have started to have a few health problems again which is definitely not something I am happy about. But hey without trials we wouldn't be able to claim that we overcame! and there would be no joy in the good days!

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life -John 3:16

I love you,
