This week has been hard, it started out being okay because every Monday is pretty good. As a missionary you love Mondays. because that is the day you get to relax. (who knew that I would say I love Mondays?!) This past Monday we celebrated Sister Runya's Birthday by going out and playing laser tag and mini golf. it was fun, and since we couldn't play any of the arcade games but had 10 tokens to use, I used them to play the basketball hoop game, and I beat everybody's score. We ate dinner with the Croxall family and learned a bit about the ward members from sister Croxall. Their kids are funny, we played the "Cup Game" with them and the Elders. I taught them the Plan of Salvation, the first time I taught it!
We found out that 2 of our investigators had dropped us. One because a member insulted them, and Two they weren't willing to change.
On Tuesday we had district Meeting and learned a little bit about the district, Sister Fuller and I had to leave early from the meeting so that we would be able to eat lunch before Sister Hibbs came to pick us up to travel out to Kingman. We drove up to Cheney and visited with her Mom at the rest home and painted her nails (well Sister Fuller did that). I got to talk to her about scriptures and stuff. after we stopped by there we went to find some referrals that we had received. Both were not home. So we headed out and met with the Huffman family again, we try to see them every time we go out to Kingman. We gave them a little lesson about faith like unto a seed. That even if faith is small and tiny, if it is planted in something good it will grow. It may take time to grow but it will continue to grow. We tried to go to one of our investigators house where we set up an appointment to see them, but they were not home... so we went and found a missing member and where she lives. We stopped at Sonic on our way out of Kingman and got a root beer float, I forgot how good those things were!
We had dinner at the Beggs and the Elders taught them the lesson. After dinner we met with the Elders at the church and went over the New Directory. We made plans of finding out who people were and what we could do to help members with their problems and helping them be more missionary like.
Wednesday we went out to go visit a Less Active member that we had set an appointment up with. She wasn't home. So we called our only progressing investigator, Sue, and asked if we could come over, she said yes. We went over and Sister Fuller vacuumed her house while I talked about her family and other stuff. We brought her a king James version of the bible. she has 3 other bibles and is comparing them all together... kind of interesting. Sue is an older woman and she had heart surgery earlier this year so pushing her vacuum is difficult for her. We talked for a while and then we headed out to eat dinner at the Craig's house, Luckily we ate food that didn't look like there was any TVP in it. Sister Craig did a demonstration last week with how you can use TVP for almost anything. that stuff is really weird tasting. After dinner we were suppose to meet up with Cori at the Hansen's house but she canceled on us. We went over to her house to find out what was up and her Dad told us she had taken her kids out to the park. (awkward) Turns out she only really came to church and did the lessons because she wanted to see the Elders. She had a major crush on Elder Johnson. (Even More Awkward). So later that night the Elders told her that she would have to talk with us *the sisters* from then on. She dropped us after that night, and we haven't heard from her since.
Thursday Morning bright and early at 5:45 A.M. We went and picked up the Rolling Hills Sisters and went to the church to do some Yoga!!! it was great there were a ton of missionaries there. after studies Sister Fuller showed me how to perform a church tour. (in preparation for the church tour we were about to give) Bayley our new investigator came and we did the Church tour with her. She definitely understood what we were saying and she has some wonderful fellowship in our ward.. After Bayley we went to Sue’s house and read 3 Nephi 11 with her. It was a very interesting discussion. At the end she told us that she really didn't know what to do anymore, that she was kind of lost. (Which is good! because now she isn't a devout Methodist anymore!) We ended with a prayer.
We were suppose to have dinner at Sister Nading's house but her husband’s dad got sick so they went out to see him. So instead we went to the mission office and got mail and filled out some paper work. We met with the Sister Leaders there and we all went out to dinner for Sister Tenney’s last restaurant meal in America. She got her Visa and is going to Brazil this week. She is super awesome and I'm going to miss her.
On Friday we went out and tried to see Naomi again, this time she was home, but she was very stressed out. She is moving soon and all of her kids have moved back in with her and their families have too. She is having problems with some of them. We talked with her for a while and read a little bit about the restoration; how God is our loving Heavenly Father, and the gospel blesses families. After that I called Elder Sutherland and passed off lesson 2 with him. It was stressful. After that we called people and continued to update the Directory. A lot of Disconnected numbers. We ate dinner with the Gibsons and their sugar glider bit me.
Saturday We did our studies and then at about 1:30 we had a conference call, so Sister Fuller and I called a number and put in a pass code and there we were in a conference call with about 12 sets of other missionaries. They discussed the 12 week program and we all said where we were in the program. We are all suppose to be done with 2nd lesson and be in week 6 of training. some people were not. The Elders borrowed the car from us today and we got it back a little late. so we didn't go out to Cheney as planned. But we watched a church video about the Gospel. We had our last together Meal with the Elders at the Balzers. The mission president sent out a text that we were no longer to have meals with other missionaries. So we enjoyed the peanut butter balls and the kittens. The Balzers are crazy drivers. and they have awesome trucks.
On Sunday we went to church and waited for Naomi to come because she said she was coming. she never came. We made plans to go see a Less Active family named the Holts, but they weren't there. So we stopped at the Yorks and discovered that he hadn't been a member for a while and he had recently gotten divorced. but he was nice. We ate dinner with Sister Power and enjoyed the company of their kids.
That night we went with Madison Thornburg and her friend Jackson to the President’s Devotional where Recent converts bear their testimonies and awesome things are said. It went really well and Jackson said it was really great. We hope that he is a new investigator!
Overall this week has been pretty hard, but at the same time we had a ton of blessings that came with the difficulties.
